Back to Blogs

FY2024 saw repeat raisers return in force - several companies that had raised before came back for more - alongside a strong showing from health, beverages and impact-focused ventures. These are the ten largest Birchal raises that closed in the 2024 financial year (1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024), by total raised.

1. Medigrowth — $3,226,050 from 2,013 investors. The medicinal-cannabis company led the year with a $3.2 million raise and more than 2,000 investors.

2. Naked Life — $2,949,549 from 996 investors. The non-alcoholic beverage group (and the No Nasties Project) rode the booming no- and low-alcohol trend to nearly $3 million.

3. Birchal — $2,317,186 from 1,110 investors. The platform returned to its own community for a $2.3 million round.

4. Philter Brewing — $2,151,460 from 1,287 investors. The Sydney independent brewery kept craft beer firmly on the leaderboard.

5. Cannaponics — $1,788,133 from 1,251 investors. Back for a second raise - the campaign behind the 'rallied the crowd twice' story - adding another $1.8 million.

6. X-Hemp — $1,500,433 from 927 investors. The Tasmanian industrial-hemp company brought a materials-and-sustainability angle to the field.

7. CrowdProperty — $1,405,573 from 254 investors. The property-development lending platform raised $1.4 million from a smaller, higher-conviction group of 254 investors.

8. Medicann Health — $1,405,310 from 1,096 investors. A second appearance for the medicinal-cannabis company in successive years.

9. Fremantle Seaweed — $1,214,405 from 959 investors. The blue-economy seaweed venture - later one of our featured success stories - raised over $1.2 million.

10. RecycleSmart — $1,106,562 from 991 investors. The on-demand recycling service made the list for what would become a multi-raise journey on the platform.

FY2024's signature was loyalty: repeat raisers like Cannaponics, Medicann and Birchal showed that a community, once built, can be returned to.
