Boardsox is in the running to win the Surfing Accessory of the Year title for their functional surfboard covers which are made from recycled plastic bottles. Since its inception in 2017, Boardsox has worked to inspire surfers to become advocates for a better world through collaborations with environmental organisations, community outreach programs and ongoing initiatives to raise awareness about ocean conversation. The business is a first-time nominee for an SBIA award and recently opened its first shop front in Torquay, on the Surf Coast. Boardsox co-owner Sarah Quinney said she was over the moon to be recognised on a national scale.“We weren’t expecting it at all.“To be in the ring so to speak with Rip Curl, Futures Fins, Creatures of Leisure and Captain Fin Co is incredible.“No one else is making our covers, and we are the first ones to do it in Australia and our customers love it.“It’s been six years and we’ve worked really hard to get to where we are today.“If we were to win it would be great recognition of the hard work we’ve put in!”
