Ultrasound is one of the most common diagnostic procedures with almost 12 million scans done in Australia each year. It is also used for earlier detection of chronic ailments like heart disease which is the leading cause of death globally.
However, many Australians don’t have access to basic ultrasound and annually more than 1 million ultrasounds are severely delayed or in many cases not performed at all.
Also, due to its physical nature, sonographers that perform ultrasounds have a very high rate of injuries. They regularly experience pain when scanning and for many this is career ending. RMI Oceania is on a mission to solve these problems.
